The upgrade to ClickLearn Attain goes live on May 25th. Here's everything you need to know - what's happening, when, and what you need to do.
In this guide you'll find release highlights, what your users need to know, FAQs, and more. Remember if you have questions, you can always reach out to Support@clicklearn.com.
ClickLearn services - including published content - will be completely unavailable over the weekend of May 23–24 while we complete the migration. All services will be back and ready on Monday May 25th.
This is a significant architectural upgrade to ClickLearn Attain - a fundamental improvement to how the platform handles your projects and recordings.
Your published content stays exactly as it is - and while the interface looks the same, your users will notice faster performance and better stability where it counts.
The most impactful changes for you and your team:
Significantly faster project loading and publishing, especially on large projects.
Multiple authors in the same project at the same time - now significantly more reliable.
Fewer wait states when switching between recordings mid-session.
New data structure enabling faster feature delivery in future releases.
If your organisation's IT team manages software installations (also known as “MSI” – Microsoft Installer), they will need to download and install the latest version from the Administrator Portal when it is released on May 25th or after. Giving them a heads-up now will help them be ready for this – a step-by-step guide is available below.
If ClickLearn updates automatically when you log in (also known as “ClickOnce”), the upgrade will be there waiting for you the next time you log in - nothing to do in advance.
ClickLearn will be offline from Saturday 23 May 03:30 UTC to Monday 25 May 03:30 UTC while scheduled maintenance runs. This includes the content portal - end users will not be able to access published content during this window. Please inform any end users who may need access over the weekend.
The new ClickLearn Attain architecture is live! Welcome to a faster, more stable ClickLearn.
If you were logged in before the upgrade, you may be logged out and simply have to log back in!
First Open: When you first open a project or recording, you'll see a one-time prompt to confirm the upgrade. This is expected, takes just a moment, and only happens once per project or recording.
The steps below depend on how ClickLearn is installed in your organisation - either automatically (“ClickOnce”) or managed by your IT team (“MSI”). If you're not sure, check with your IT team or Customer Success Manager / Implementation Specialist.

MSI - also knowns as Microsoft Installer - is an installation method where your IT team is responsible for deploying and managing software. Some organizations use both MSI and ClickOnce (automatic updates). Your IT team still needs to deploy the new MSI version as described above. For your users using ClickOnce, the upgrade will happen automatically on the next login.

The below applies to everyone, regardless of how the new release of ClickLearn is installed.
When you first open your projects and recordings after May 25th, you'll see one-time prompts. These are normal - not errors.
The first author to open a project after the upgrade will see a prompt asking them to confirm the upgrade. Simply click “Yes” to continue - it takes just a moment and only happens once per project. All other authors opening the same project afterwards won't see it again.
Only the first author to open a project needs to confirm - all others will open it normally after that. When you open a recording for the first time after the upgrade, you'll be prompted to save it to apply a one-time performance update. Simply save the recording to confirm - this happens once per recording.
ℹ️ This is expected behaviour - not an error. It is a one-time step per recording. The second user will receive an in-app notification that the upgrade is already in progress. Wait a moment and try again - the project or recording will open normally once the first user has confirmed.
The migration requires a brief downtime window to ensure the upgrade is completed cleanly and safely. We've scheduled it over the weekend to minimise disruption to authoring teams. Note that the content portal will also be unavailable during this window — not just ClickLearn Studio. All services will be fully back online on Monday May 25th.
