Prepare your team

If your organisation's IT team manages software installations (also known as “MSI” – Microsoft Installer), they will need to download and install the latest version from the Administrator Portal when it is released on May 25th or after. Giving them a heads-up now will help them be ready for this – a step-by-step guide is available below.

If ClickLearn updates automatically when you log in (also known as “ClickOnce”), the upgrade will be there waiting for you the next time you log in - nothing to do in advance.

May 25th · Go-live

Upgrade released!

The new ClickLearn Attain architecture is live! Welcome to a faster, more stable ClickLearn.

If you were logged in before the upgrade, you may be logged out and simply have to log back in!

First Open: When you first open a project or recording, you'll see a one-time prompt to confirm the upgrade. This is expected, takes just a moment, and only happens once per project or recording.

Prepare for the upgrade

The steps below depend on how ClickLearn is installed in your organisation - either automatically (“ClickOnce”) or managed by your IT team (“MSI”). If you're not sure, check with your IT team or Customer Success Manager / Implementation Specialist.

You can also always reach out to Support@clicklearn.com

🔗 ClickOnce: Updates happen automatically

1 - Nothing to install

ClickOnce is a deployment method where ClickLearn updates automatically - no IT involvement needed. The next time you log in after May 25th, the new version will already be there waiting for you!

✓ No action needed ahead of the upgrade

2 - Logged out?

You may have been logged out over the weekend during the upgrade – simply log back in and the upgrade will be there waiting for you. Forgot your password? No problem! Just re-set it to log back in.

3 - First open

With this upgrade, the first time a project or recording is re-opened, you’ll see a one-time prompt asking you to confirm the upgrade. Please simply click "Yes" or "Save" to continue. It only happens once per project and recording. All other users opening the same project or recording afterwards won't see it again, promise!

💾 MSI (your organization’s IT team manages installations and updates)
1

Your IT department downloads and installs the new version

MSI - also knowns as Microsoft Installer - is an installation method where your IT team is responsible for deploying and managing software. On May 25th or after, they will need to download and install the new ClickLearn version from the Administrator Portal. Users will not be able to log in until this has been done.

⚠️ Giving your IT team a heads-up now can help them be ready to act on May 25th!
2

Uninstall the older ClickLearn version

Once the new version has been installed, we recommend uninstalling the previous version of ClickLearn to avoid any confusion. Your IT team can do this easily and if in doubt, we’ve provided an easy-step guide below.

3

Also using ClickOnce?

Some organizations use both MSI and ClickOnce (automatic updates). Your IT team still needs to deploy the new MSI version as described above. For your users using ClickOnce, the upgrade will happen automatically on the next login.

4

First Open

With this upgrade, the first time a project or recording is re-opened, you’ll see a one-time prompt asking you to confirm the upgrade. Please simply click "Yes" or "Save" to continue. It only happens once per project and recording. All other users opening the same project or recording afterwards won't see it again, promise!

The below applies to everyone, regardless of how the new release of ClickLearn is installed.

📂

First open after the upgrade - Projects and Recordings

When you first open your projects and recordings after May 25th, you'll see one-time prompts. These are normal - not errors.

1

When you first open a project

The first author to open a project after the upgrade will see a prompt asking them to confirm the upgrade. Simply click “Yes” to continue - it takes just a moment and only happens once per project. All other authors opening the same project afterwards won't see it again.

Only the first author to open a project needs to confirm - all others will open it normally after that.
2

When you first open a recording

When you open a recording for the first time after the upgrade, you'll be prompted to save it to apply a one-time performance update. Simply save the recording to confirm - this happens once per recording.

ℹ️ This is expected behaviour - not an error. It is a one-time step per recording.

What if two users open the same project at the same time?

The second user will receive an in-app notification that the upgrade is already in progress. Wait a moment and try again - the project or recording will open normally once the first user has confirmed.

Common questions
Will my published content be affected?
During normal operation after May 25th, your published content stays exactly as it is. Kindly note that the content portal will be unavailable during the downtime window May 23-24. Please let your users know in case they planned on accessing ClickLearn over that weekend.
What happens to my data during the migration?
Your data remains completely safe - we're only upgrading the underlying backend data structures, not changing anything you've built. ClickLearn handles the migration automatically during the May 23–24 downtime window, with backups taken as an additional safeguard.
I'm not sure if my organisation uses ClickOnce (where updates happen automatically) or MSI (where your IT team manages installations) what do I need to do?
If your organisation uses ClickOnce — nothing to worry about! The upgrade will be there waiting for you the next time you log in. The first time you open a project, you'll see a one-time prompt — just click Yes to continue. If your organisation uses MSI — your IT team will need to download and install the latest version from the Administrator Portal on May 25th or after, before you can log in. If you're unsure, check with your IT team or reach out to support@clicklearn.com
Why am I seeing a pop-up when I open a project / recording?
This is expected! From May 25th, when a project or recording is first opened, there will be a one-time prompt asking the user to confirm or save. This ensures the upgrade is completed. It takes just a minute and only happens once per project / recording. All other users opening the same project or recording after will not see a pop up.
Why am I being asked to re-enter my credentials?
This is expected. When logging in for the first time after the upgrade, you may be asked to log back in. This is a one-time step as part of the upgrade process. If you have forgotten your password, you can re-set it or reach out to Support@Clicklearn.com
Why is ClickLearn offline on May 23–24?

The migration requires a brief downtime window to ensure the upgrade is completed cleanly and safely. We've scheduled it over the weekend to minimise disruption to authoring teams. Note that the content portal will also be unavailable during this window — not just ClickLearn Studio. All services will be fully back online on Monday May 25th.
