Oversold as an IFS Resource

Hi Melissa,I am sorry to hear you are struggling with ClickLearn. I can’t find any records showing you have contacted our support team or a Customer Success Manager to explain your situation? I have asked the CSM assigned to Shapes to contact you directly today, and find out why you are struggling. We have IFS customers that have stayed with us since they joined in 2014, and are still happily using ClickLearn for IFS. And I am 100% convinced we can create great value for your organization as well.Regarding the “2000 tutorials related to IFS” you mention should be in ClickLearn: There is no IFS content provided by ClickLearn anywhere to be found in the tool. We do not provide any content for any of the platforms the ClickLearn solution supports. Perhaps the standard recordings you are referring to, could be the ones delivered by IFS and their ScopeTool, during an implementation project? If your organization paid IFS for such a delivery, we will gladly assist you in getting them imported

No, this is currently not a feature we have in the current version of ClickLearn. I would suggest you create a feature request on Ideas and Feature requests page here on the community website. Be sure to be as detailed as possible. It will make it easier for our developers to understand what you want to achieve.

Making bulk edits for mouse steps

You can bulk-edit certain properties on steps in the editor. Ctrl-click to select individual steps and right-click to edit. However some are not possible, such as for example highlight positions, which would be very individual to each step, and it wouldn’t be possible to allow bulk editing on them.

Is the CL extension on Web browsers updated simultaneously with the update to the overall software system itself?

No, updates to the ClickLearn Chrome Connector extension and to ClickLearn Attain are handled separately.

Adding team members to a project after setup?

Yes, once the initial setup is completed, you can modify and add to your team in the Team page from inside the project in ClickLearn Studio.

Do you have a search function through out all recordings?

Yes, you can search content from the top search field in the learning portal. And you can also search recordings from the recordings page in ClickLearn Studio, via CTRL+F shortcut.

Can I add external files to extend my documentation?

Yes, you can add such additional content inside a recording, or as a separate element in the structure, using assets. Go to the assets page in ClickLearn Studio, upload your assets and then you can add them to a recording in a Text Block using the link function, or from the structure page you can drag’n’drop an asset anywhere into a structure.

Mobile app emulators?

While there currently are no officially supported emulators for emulating a mobile webapp in a desktop pc browser, you can still create value with ClickLearn in scenarios where you need to create documentation for mobile apps. What can I do with assist content in the editor?

In the assist editor you can exclude certain steps and other content from being shown, and you can set the “advance by…” settings which controls how the assist will advance from one step to the next. If you wish to make changes to the visual appearance in the assist experience, you can do so in the template settings in your project.

Modifying red highlight for assist content?

Good news - this option is already available! To change the highlight for any format, open the recording, navigate to the step with the highlight’s position you wish to change, and open to edit the step. Click on Image Editor, and now drag and drop the red highlight. Resize if needed. Please remember any such manual edits you save to your steps require manual maintenance and will end up eat away some of the great value ClickLearn creates for your organization, in terms of automation and saving time creating content fast.

Can I republish my project if I want to - how?

If you wish to republish your content, go to the publishing page in ClickLearn Studio and click on any of the “Change” options listed in the right side of the page, to restart the publishing wizard. Complete it without making any changes, and the publishing will run again.

Can I find comments and ratings for specific language versions?

Yes, the name of recording which the feedback was provided on along with the feedback contents, will be shown in the language version that the user was browsing, in the Dashboard page in ClickLearn Studio. You have to click on a rating (Great, Poor, etc) to see the list of feedback provided.

Feedback & comments - where can I find them?

Feedback is enabled or disabled in the template settings. To access any comments posted, or ratings given to your content, go to the Dashboard page in ClickLearn Studio. You can also access the data if you are using OData.

My publishing process is slow - why?

The time publishing your project takes, can vary depending on a number of factors, such as but not limited to: Number of recordings, number of languages, number of steps in recordings, number and size of assets. The formats you choose to publish in your template settings also have an effect on publishing, and as a rule of thumb the more included, the longer production time. If you don’t plan to utilize the word and powerpoint formats, and particularly the legacy Windows Media Video format in your published materials, exclude them to speed up the process.

Can I publish parts of my project?

When publishing your project with ClickLearn, everything you have included in the structure editor will be published. If you leave out recordings from the structure, they will not be published.

Yes, default that would be the setting. However, if you setup Single-Sign-On with Microsoft Office 365, then your users can access the learning portal using their O365 credentials!

Different audience - different content - is this possible?

Yes, you can use the segment feature to “slice” your content into several different separate editions of your published learning portal. Each segment you add, will create a URL to a learning portal with the content you tagged to that segment in the structure editor. Please note: The segmented portal URL is not intended as a method to secure access to confidential content. To achieve this result, create separate projects and set access rules accordingly. Can you reply multiple recordings?

As ClickLearn is running tests on the UI, the number of recordings you can replay simultaneously are limited by the number of ClickLearn instances you have available. Each physical or virtual computer with a Microsoft Windows operating system can run one ClickLearn instance. Therefore, to scale you can add more Windows clients with ClickLearn, for example through virtual computing technology.

When does using VM technology for APT make sense?

Using virtual computing, or VM technology with ClickLearn is advantageous for a number of reasons. For example, when replaying on a VM client, you can still use your host computer to run other applications. If you record with ClickLearn on the VM client, you also get the advantage of not having to suppress any notifications, clean-up up your desktop and browsers before recording. For localization tasks you could also more easily work with changing the Microsoft Windows UI to target languages, without disrupting your work on your host computer.

Can I search for data to use in APT?

Yes, either you can use the APIxx and APIGet functions to load specific data from a supported data source, or you can record the process on the UI, maybe in combination with the data scraping capability the annotated screenshot brings.

APT errors - will they be logged somewhere?

As data-based errors can vary wildly, ClickLearn may not be able to detect and identify them all correctly. But you should be able to detect most of them in the screenshot logs, the text log, or via a combination of the two. You can find both in the Assets page in ClickLearn Studio, in the APT assets folder, in a subfolder with the name of your test.
