Attain: Download & install

With Attain, ClickLearn has simplified how to get you up and running by sending users (Admin and Authors only) an email with links for everything they need to get started.Once you have located the email, click the link next to Download & install ClickLearn to begin the download process.Next, open the installation file. It will connect to the internet for verification and bring up the installation screen. Click Install to complete the process. ClickLearn Attain will download the installation components from the internet. The benefit of this is that no matter when you run this installer, you will be downloading the latest version. And that is the installation process complete! Attain will automatically open displaying the new splash screen. Adding and Removing the ClickLearn Connector ExtensionTutorial

You need to install the ClickLearn Connector Extension into your browser if you are capturing instructions from a web app. Installing the ClickLearn Connector in Edge Method 1 Click on the ellipses/menu and select Extensions. Continuing from installing ClickLearn Attain, the final part of the installation process is installing the ClickLearn extension and Native Messaging Host. The ClickLearn Extension is an important component in recording any web app from your browser.A web app is an application that runs on a remote web server. It is usually accessed using a web browser. Examples include Microsoft Dynamics 365 BC, CRM and Finance & Operations, IFS Aurena, and SalesForce.For ClickLearn connectors to capture the information for ClickLearn recordings, you need to have the ClickLearn extension installed.The Native Messaging Host, in turn, allows the ClickLearn extension to communicate with the recorder process. Without these components installed, you will likely get an error similar to the one below. ClickLearn Attain makes the installation process simple by prompting you to install the extension in your web browser (Edge or Chrome) immediately after installing the application. Setting Up the ClickLearn Assistant for Web Apps

This guide is for web apps only. To get started, first publish your content. In the final screen of the Publishing process, you will see two URLs. Copy the Assistconfig URL and paste it into a web browser. You will get prompted to log in. Enter your credentials and click Login. Head back to ClickLearn Studio and copy the URL of the published portalReturn to the Assistconfig webpage and paste the portal URL into the link area and click Go! You will automatically get a prompt asking if you want to add this to your system. Paste the URL of the webpage where the Assistant will be used. This completes the process. To test that the Assistant has been configured you will need to install the ClickLearn Chrome Assist Extension for Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.Once installed, return to the website where you will be using the Assist. In this guide, we will demonstrate how to make a simple recording. This guide is intended for authors who are new to ClickLearn. Before we get started, please make sure that you are familiar with setting up your Windows environment for a recording. You can find a guide here.Also, always use a mouse. Using a trackpad can result in uncaptured steps. We have already created a project, so now you are ready for your first recording. First, get the environment that you will be recording ready. In this demonstration, we will be using Excel. For best practices, we recommend closing everything apart from the application or web app. We also recommend turning focus assist on to avoid any interruptions. Once ready, return to your ClickLearn window and click Start new recording. A pop-up will ask for the name of the recording. Enter a name, and select the UI language. To properly use ClickLearn Attain (or any version of ClickLearn), your desktop needs to have a few basic settings in place. This is because ClickLearn and Windows need to work with each other to read the data on your screen. Using Metadata to Extend the Names of RecordingsTutorial

Recordings in ClickLearn Attain have names consisting of a maximum of 32 characters. Did you know that you can use metadata to give your recordings names of up to 72 characters? Enabling metadata First, we want to access the properties. ClickLearn has a number of these pre-constructed properties to make the task easier. Click on Settings, then Properties. Tick Description and then click the Get started button. Once the pre-constructed options appear, click Save changes. Applying Metadata Next, we want to go back to Structure.Select a recording. The area on the right will change and you can now select properties. Click Description. Next, enter your desired Alternative Title. Remember, it can be as long as 72 characters. You can also enter a description. Click save after each change. Click Save in the main Structure area. The window will now refresh to display the new titles. This completes the process. Recovering Deleted Recordings

Many of us have accidentally deleted an important file at least once in our lives. Thanks to ClickLearn Attain’s cloud, we do not need to worry about re-creating recordings from scratch, as recovering deleted recordings is now a simple two-part process. 1. Recover the recording. In this demonstration, the recording we have accidentally deleted and need to recover is called Recording A. The process starts with logging into your organization’s ClickLearn Administrative portal. The quickest way to achieve this is to open ClickLearn Attain, click on the letter of your first name located at the bottom-left of the screen, and select Administrative portal. If you have already bookmarked your portal, jump to the next step. Click on Recordings and Open the project folder the recording belonged to, then the Recordings folder to navigate to the original location of the deleted recording.Note that Recording A is missing. How to Troubleshoot "Close All Windows of Your Microsoft Edge Browser"Tutorial

By default, the latest update of Microsoft Edge runs background extensions and apps in the background of your system. Even if you close Microsoft Edge in the taskbar, there is a good chance that one of its processes is still running. This can cause problems during the installation and initial set up of ClickLearn Attain by producing the prompt that you need to close all windows of your Microsoft Edge. Users have found that after they close Microsoft Edge, and click OK the prompt does not go away. How to TroubleshootIf this message keeps appearing, the first thing you need to do is click Cancel, and close ClickLearn Attain. Open Edge, click on the ellipses/menu and select Settings.Next, click on System and performance. In System and performance, disable the options for “Startup boost” and “Continue running background extensions and apps when Microsoft Edge is closed” and close the tab.Start ClickLearn Attain again and continue the set-up process.After set up is complete, we recommend

Hiding Sensitive Information

Have you ever made a recording only to realize that it reveals sensitive information? ClickLearn Attain can resolve such an issue with the blur tool. In this example, we have captured a screen with sensitive information (email addresses) that we do not want to be displayed in our training documentation.We start this process by opening the recording for editing. Next, we select the step and click Edit.In the Edit the selected step window, we click on Image Editor. Click the Blur areas button.Create a square or rectangle in the area that you want to blur. If you have different areas that you need to blur, you can click on the Blur areas to redact the sensitive information button again. You also have the option to manually enter the size and positioning for greater accuracy.You can finish this process by clicking Save and Close and Save Changes. This completes the tutorial.

Troubleshooting Published Content with the Analyzer

ClickLearn Attain comes with an analyzer function that speeds up the producing stage. It achieves this by only looking at and producing areas with changes to the project since its last production date.If your analyzer file becomes corrupted, it will not register all changes made. You can reset this so that it will look at the project in its entirety the next time it produces your project. To do so, follow these steps. Head to Settings, then Published content. Find the project that you need to troubleshoot. Click on the ellipsis for options and select Remove analyzer. You will get prompted to enter a reason. Enter the reason and click Remove. You can now click Close and return to the Publishing screen to re-publish your project.

Mouse Action Options

ClickLearn Attain version 12.0.0.181 comes with the option to change what kind of click you have used because let’s face it, a click is not always just a click. Sometimes you need a specific mouse action. At present, these options are only available through the Video editor area. Right-click the step that you want to change, then move to Mouse action, and finally choose between Left click, Right click, Double click, and Move.If you go back to the Written editor menu, you will see that ClickLearn has also updated the instructions in this area with the selected click type.
